Thank you for joining me on this journey as I begin to share my experiences; good, bad, and different with the world! I hope my blog posts inspire, empower, and encourage you to believe in your God given talents and passions at a greater level.
When I first received my promotion as an Assistant Program Manager almost 3 years ago, I was in awe that I was selected for the position and promotion. Not that I wasn’t qualified for it, but it was something that I wanted and thought about quite frequently since I started working for my company Agero 5 plus years ago. Even out of new hire training, I told my colleagues that I would be a leader on the “Who’s Who” wall there.
Though they found it comical initially, I kept that idea fresh in my mind throughout my tenure as a response associate taking roadside assistance calls. As an associate, my goal to be in a leadership position one day had many road blocks and obstacles I had to overcome. A lot of which were self inflicted hindrances brought on by distractions and lost motivation.
I knew I wanted to be a leader one day even before my military and contract automotive mechanic days. But a leader at a call center, was this something I really wanted to do or pursue? I mean I’ve made thousands of dollars working as a contractor and mechanic, surely there was more of a career there than at a call center, right? More questions that I didn’t know the answer to right away.
I’m a firm believer that our steps are ordered and that everything happens for a reason. There was a reason that I got this job, at this time in my life, in this area of the world. It was here more than any other job or position I’ve held in that past, that I understood even more so that we have to grow where we’re planted. We also have to make the best of the situations we find ourselves in.
From Response Associate, to Momentum Coach, to Total Case Specialist to now Assistant Program Manager, one important message this journey has taught me is that we are capable of achieving far more than what we think if we stay diligent and believe. You may have started a new journey: new job, new school, new business, new relationship, new church, and are worried about your next move from this point.
Being nervous and anxious is a normal feeling we all have in these positions. Just know that we can overcome them by proper planning, setting tangible/realistic goals, and taking one step at a time each day towards our desired goal or outcome. Our dream, purpose, and passion will not be achieved without adversity, failures, and challenges Along The Way. We just have to adapt, stay persistent, and keep our eyes on the prize to overcome. Let the past be the past, and your future be your present. Keep pressing on and Happy Journeying!
